When I couldn’t decide between crispy chicken tenders or a shawarma wrap, I thought — why not both? That’s how this recipe came to be! These crispy chicken shawarmas are made with juicy, fried chicken strips with all the fresh, shawarma toppings you love — lettuce, onion, feta, and tzatziki.🍽️

The secret for this recipe? Afia Spice Blends. Their Za’atar, Baharat, and Shawarma blends take this recipe to another level and you can easily grab them on Amazon. Use my code AFIAMARA  for 15% OFF your order!

For the chicken:

  • 34 oz boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 tbsp Afia Spice Blend (mix of Za’atar, Baharat & Shawarma)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • Vegetable oil, for frying (about ½–¾ cup or enough to shallow fry)

For the wraps:

  • 6–8 pita breads
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup tzatziki
  • ¼ cup feta cheese
  • Optional: tomatoes, cucumber, or other toppings

  1. Marinate the chicken: Wash and slice the chicken breasts into strips (or use chicken tenderloins). In a bowl, combine milk, lemon juice, minced garlic, and Afia spice blends. Add chicken and marinate for at least 30 minutes — the longer, the more flavorful!
  2. Coat the chicken: In a shallow dish, mix flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper. Coat the marinated chicken evenly and shake off any excess.

  1.  Fry the chicken: Heat oil in a cast-iron skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Fry chicken in batches until golden and crispy and fully cooked through. Drain on a wire rack or paper towel.

  1. Assemble: Build crispy tenders into shawarmas with your favorite toppings. Enjoy!
